Boycott Google

This is a news story that was covered as part of  "Maine in the Morning" a show that is from Bangor Maine, that features a Conservative and a liberal host, it is pretty wierd but they do a good  job on local coverage.
Apparently if you follow the money trail, Google has given $250,000 to Moveon.org.  Which is chicken fee to Google but it sure gives Moveon.org working capital to destroy our country.

I thought the best place to start was Fox news.

This is very interesting, Al Gore sits on the Board of  Google, which has made him a wealthy man, Ross Perot kind of wealthy

Before there was Google there were other search engines just as good, well almost as good Google got so big because their searches were faster than anyone else’s.  Of course now they are not just in the Search business they are everywhere.  When I saw the founders of Google I thought I remember them being from Germany, or some place not in the USA in any event, can anyone confirm that.

So my next search will be for another Search engine and any time I see adds by Google I am going to contact the website owners and tell them, I refuse to use their site until Google is Removed.  I just went to Glenn Becks site for another reason and sure enough "Adds by Google".  I emailed the show and informed them of my feeling, we shall se if it does any good.  As more facts about this story develope and they may not, just because Google is so big and can squash the story, I will stop listening to Glenn Beck or Rush or  even Laura Ingraham if  the story is found to be true and not discredited.  I suspect it is quite true.

Any other ideas on how we can hurt Google I would be happy to hear.

I am sure this will Come up on Rush today.

I have done a little research and http://hs.quickbrowsersearch.com  is a pretty good Search Engine, so were a couple of others but they used Google.  I like this one when the category is broad it breaks it out, making it easier then Google to find exactly what you want without weeding through a million hits.

Save the court Indeed

In my attempt to  learn more about how our government works and I use the word loosely.  I found this website.  Which seems innocuous enough at first glance.  "People for the American Way", I consider myself a person for the American Way and a website called SaveTheCourt.com, again that would be nice.  Of course they say they speak for the majority of the American People, it is surprising that is doesn't, where the liberals have had complete control over the minds of our young people in  our schools for the last 30 years, but many think that Conservative views represent the majority of the thinking of  Americans.  Who knows I guess.  When I think of saving the court I don't immediately think of O'Conor as a hero being replaced by the devil Alito, pretty much the opposite.  I guess anyone can say they have won the hearts and minds of the American people, harder to actually make it happen, although the pendulum swings.  There focus is mainly on Roberts and Alito, I guess because  both of them have been recently appointed to their respective positions.

It is funny how two opposing groups can look at the same data and have complete different conclusions.  I finally thought that the Court was going in the right direction, no pun intended.  One of their subject is Alito is no O’Conor, to which I say Thank God.

Tell me what you think of this website.

Actually strange as it seems I did learn quite a lot of what I wanted to obtain but of course I had to reverse everything.

Political name calling

It is bad enough that between parties there is a lot of bashing, which isn’t very becoming, just means that you don’t have a point if you have to resort to name calling.  But I see a strange trend in the Conservative circles.   A moderate conservative, one willing to be some what flexible on one or more issues but still holds the important ones like Federalism, strong defense, the importance of Judicial Restraint  are considered the enemy and despised as much as Democrats on the very left.  Despising someone for their political beliefs  seems rather un-American  to me.  The political process is what makes this country great, there isn’t room for bitterness and pouting when you don’t get your way, work harder, learn more, have better arguments. That is how the game is played, don’t name call because you have beliefs that are un-popular.

Most of our domestic issues would go away if we took back the power that is rightfully ours.  The way the Fed works is they use our money to coerce us into doing what they want.  If we took back our power by paying for it that is tell the Fed to buzz off and pay the economic price, they would have a challenge beyond mere words, that is putting your money where your mouth is.   If you didn’t like that a communities gun control laws, move, if the state was exerting power that you can’t change again move to a state that aligns with you beliefs, that is the way it is suppose to work, we are very far from that now.   Of course some of this will require Judicial change, I think we have a good start on that, but the next couple of nominations are going to be very important, as to which way the pendulum swings.  Justice O’Conor was Proud to say that a Jurist doesn’t always please the President that appointed them, in her case it would be an understatement to say the Ronald Reagan was unhappy with his Activist Judge.  Her swing vote has this country in an awful state of affairs and her writing for even a lay person are extremely scary.

Wouldn’t it be great if we finally got it right, took back our power locally and other than our national defense and a very very few other activities the Federal Government was out of our lives.  Moderate conservative or full right wing Conservative, isn’t that what we all want, so lets work together.

California initative

Unfortunately nobody is going to see my little blog.  I was just reading about California trying to initiate a referendum that would create a more fair situation and fix the awful situation where your vote doesn’t count unless you have a enough votes to win the state.  It would break the state into Congressional districts and there 55 electoral votes would be split up, not as good as popular vote would be but sure is a move in the right direction.  It is something that is done in my state Maine, but in Maine the distribution of population is so concentrated around Portland that our vote still doesn’t count as much as it will in CA, but in CA it would actually mean something.

The reason I am posting is to suggest something that seems so easy and could sway the election for the Republicans in 2008.  Apparently they have run out of money and still short on signatures, not sure why it takes millions of dollars to do this, be that as it may, I was happy to sign a petition here this morning supporting our troops and sending a message to the Congress that we supported General Petraeus and our President or something real close to that.  Why couldn’t the same internet petition be used in CA, even start right here at Townhall.com.  The signature would be easily verifiable and I suspect just as good as a non virtual petition.  Not sure where this could go but if you live in CA maybe it is something to work on and it sure would make me happy to see Hillary defeated in 2008 and beyond.

Not really about Richardson

I had nothing to do today so I poked in on Townhall.com.  The activity here is quite slow on Sunday.  It is a good assumption that most of the people here lean Republican but at the same time are angry at both parties with good cause.

I am with your Savage99, why indeed isn't someone stepping up to one of the real problems, one that not only drains us economically but also leaves us vulnerable with open borders and terrorist attacts of the magnitude not yet perceived .  Good question you have.

I was thinking about term limits or the lack there of in Congress.  These lifelong Congressman take all the power away from the people having great grandfathers in the Congress that have been there since they had kids in grade school.  They could care less what we think, a nuclear blast couldn't get them out of there.  The bigger issue is of course is something we have absolutely no control over and that is the tenured Supreme Court, making laws and making executive decisions , not exactly what the founding fathers had in mind.  In there infinite wisdom(sad sarcastically) they say that term limits are unconstitutional, excuse me.  I didn’t see that in the constitution, did you?  But they are suppose to be constitutional Jurist so everything they do is somehow unconstitutional.    Although Bush finally did come around to assigning a good jurist to replaced the God awful Oconor after the Meyers fiasco.

The Presidential election, however, can only fix one of these problems the term limits and the elite pompous, power grabbing Supreme court is something that will take 5 or 6 very good replacements to fix, could happen but probably not in our life time, not mine.  So I guess the presidential election comes down to two issues, National defense and border security.  Anyone of the Republican candidates with the exception of Ron Paul would have a strong stand on funding and supporting the military and not afraid to us it if they had to.  Newt (who is not a candidate) is the only one I have heard even speak about border security as a big issue both in his book “Winning the Future” and his American Solutions seminar, which is excellent BTW.  When I think about where we are and what I have seen, I am 62.  Although not funny I have to giggle because all the Republican candidates are to the left of JFK and the Dems are God knows where, I guess close to communist.  Now that is a comforting thought.

Take care, bored today.

Conservative leaving the GOP in droves?

Dr. Dobson is talking about a 3rd party candidate and others.  I guess that is why Newt said there is an 85% chance of Hillary getting elected.  The Republican party was formed by Whigs and disenchanted Democrats, but the Whig party ceased to exist(there was no third party) and they won the Presidential election of 1860.  I don't think it is possible to pull off what Lieberman did in CT. on a national scale, he was an incumbent and liked by a whole lot of people, one of the only Democrats that I do like.  But for the most part 3rd party candidates have accomplish the opposite of their intention and given elections to the other side, ALA Ross Perro.  I can throw a dart at any of the Republican candidates and be assured they will be better Presidents than any of the Democrats, what we don’t need is a spit party but that is exactly what is going on and it will lead to our worst nightmare, another Clinton in the White House, Bill is already in the media talking about how he will be this great Ambassador at large and bring all the countries that hates around to loving us, WOW!  I don't think that is what happened in the last Clinton Adminstration.

There isn’t a way to amalgamate the strengths of each candidate into one, unfortunately because they all have strengths and some have more weakness than others.

I still like Fred Thompson.  I know his style is laid back which doesn’t play well in New York or Mass but it does in the South where laid back is understood, not as unenthusiastic but as a matter of style.  Does that mean I won’t enthusiastically support whoever the nominee will be, of course not.  Let us keep our eye on the goal and stop acting like kids that will pout and go home if they don’t get their own way.

Nobody is perfect.  I like our President.  Do I think he has made mistakes especially domestically, absolutely, but  let me say two words .... Al Gore.  Would be have been better off with 4 or 8 years of Al Gore, I surely doubt it and we won’t be better off with 4 or 8 years of the Clintons, God Bless us if that happens.  So let us not go off and make up our own rules, the party is far from perfect but the alternative is incredibly bad.

This isn’t a great place to have a dialog, but if you want to email me, I don’t mind at all barrym@tds.net.

Comment to Steve Chapman on Fred Thompson

I never had any intention to have a blog or frankly even know what one was, but I wanted to post a comment to an article on Townhall.com and it was too large so they suggested my own blog, I thought, what the hell.

I am reading Ronald Reagan's diary.  Which is a grueling task, as one that usually reads 3 books a week, I have been working on this one for a month and no where near finished, why?  Because it is so boring, the President does such mundane things, if your job was this boring you would quit in a month.  Reagan was considered very lazy, after reading this I am not so sure, after meeting with the most inane people during the day, he then did the real work of government.  Yes he tried to quit at 3:00 on Friday and go to Camp David to relax and horseback ride(many of you know this was a passion of his) but still more reading.  He did watch a lot of movies but I am very surprised, I think so far he has only mentioned one book.  Which is unusual, every great person I have ever read about have been avid readers, G.W. is an avid reader as well.  Although the comments in this article do bother me a little, but not nearly as much as him not showing up for the debate on black issues, not that it was a great event, it clearly wasn’t but he did commit to it and that gives me a big problem that he bailed when the other front runners were not going to be there.  I still bounce around a lot, because there is no such thing as perfect in a human but Fred is still high on my list.  Although my primary goal is to get any one of the Republican candidates elected, with all their imperfections, they are still better than any Democrat that might get nominated.

I could give a rats behind about gun control or the religious right, although guns are what keeps our area safe where there is no police protection, everyone has one and it is well known, so the crooks go to the highly populated liberal Democratic areas of  the state where it is a sin to have a gun and protect yourself.  But what I do want is someone that is strong on defense and continues to keep this country safe.  A perfect example is G.W., he has done a lot of things that I don’t like but I will take him in a NY minute and I want our new leader to be even be more aggressive in our defense, I don’t see anyone on either side that really fits that bill.

I haven’t actually seen any of Fred’s campaigning so can not make comment on his lack of preparation, that would be disappointing, there are not that many really issues, almost everyone has view on most of them even if they are not running for the Presidency.  If you ask him what he is going to do to fix things like the situation in LA, he might not have a prepared statement, and that wouldn’t disappoint me, but I suspect if you ask him how he will handle the war on terror he will have a pretty good answer, although I must be honest I haven’t heard it yet.  BTW, if you want some further understanding read Norman Podhoretz’s World War IV, an excellent, thoughtful and balanced book with a tremendous insight into how we got here.  I am actually more excited about Newts American Solutions than I am about the election, just maybe we can affect change.  I like Newt a lot, but never thought he was electable, and above all we need a candidate that is electable.  Newt’s book “Winning the future” is also very good but way to short.

I am a good old fashion Reagun Republican and even a converted Democrat which is a long hard road and story.  I have changed a lot but the Democratic Party has change more, the combination  is not a good one for the party and me.   But what I want is what RR wanted, smaller government, a balanced budget and a strong defense, is that so much to ask.

I love the comments probably more than the article.  I am not sure what a Blog is, but I am guessing this is sort of a Blog?  I like the comments if you want to contact me directly about something barrym@tds.net.

Dakotaranger, I didn’t realize until I read World War IV that some of our people did believe that we were actually responsible in some way for the events of September 11, 2001, how absurd.  After reading this I am more afraid of our internal politics and intellectuals that seem to be supporting our enemies, to wish our country to loose an important war just to prove they were right and to work hard to those ends, wow, who would ever think that is what a democracy is.

Laura Cap, I wouldn’t mind dumping the whole congress and starting all over again, there are so few good ones it seems like a logical approach.
